The Australian Energy Market Commission has made a rule that changes the frequency of Energy Adequacy Assessment Projection (EAAP) reporting.  Reporting will now be annual instead of quarterly while maintaining the ability to issue an EAAP when it is necessary.

The Commission considers that the rule better balances the benefits of reporting on energy constraints and the costs of producing an EAAP report.

The final rule is the same as the rule proposed by the Australian Energy Market Operator, except for some amendments. The rule will commence on 1 November 2016.
