Victoria has adopted Chapter 5A of the National Electricity Rules that governs the arrangements for connecting small customers, including small-scale renewable energy generation proponents, to the electricity grid.
The national electricity connections framework will provide Victorians with greater clarity regarding the information that must be exchanged between an electricity distributor and customer to enable a connection to occur. It will enable connection to the electricity grid which is more transparent, timely and customer friendly.
The AEMC will have rule-making power in relation to the framework, which already applies in other states and territories which participate in the national electricity market.
The changes apply from 1 July 2016.
