The AEMC is in the process of considering a rule change request from the COAG Energy Council regarding transmission connection and planning arrangements. The rule change request seeks to improve transparency, contestability and clarity in the connections frameworks, and enhance the transmission planning and decision making frameworks.
The AEMC is holding a series of workshops to discuss aspects of the rule change request with stakeholders. The first workshop, held on 9 March 2016, focused on the connections aspects of the rule change request. The second workshop will cover the planning aspects of the rule change request, specifically the proposals to:
- require TNSPs to consider inter-regional investment options when planning for their networks;
- establish a committee, comprising TNSPs, to comment on, and provide input to, the development of AEMO’s National Transmission Network Development Plan; and
- introduce specific minimum requirements for TNSPs to include in their Annual Planning Reports.
Details for the workshop are as follows:
Date: 21 April 2016
Time: 10am-1pm (lunch provided)
Location: Stamford Plaza Melbourne, 111 Little Collins St, Melbourne
Registration for this workshop is available here. Please register by 18 April 2016.
