The AEMC is in the process of considering rule change requests related to addressing the risks faced by distributors in the event of a retailer default as a result of a retailer being unable to pay its outstanding network charges. A retailer default fund is an option being considered by the Commission to address these risks.
In order for the Commission to have a more informed view of the options being considered in this rule change request, a detailed design of the retailer default fund has been developed to inform the Commission’s analysis. The AEMC will be holding workshops to inform our assessment of the rule change request and the detailed design of the retailer default fund.
The AEMC will be holding one workshop for retailers on 27 May 2016 in Melbourne and one workshop for distributors on 30 May 2016 in Sydney. Although these workshops are targeted at specific stakeholder groups, other interested stakeholders are welcome to attend. These workshops represent one of a number of opportunities stakeholders will have to engage with the AEMC on the rule change request and the detailed design of the retailer default fund.
Registration for the workshops is now open. Please email shari.boyd@aemc.gov.au to register your interest and indicate the workshop location and if you will attend in person or by teleconference.
