On 15 October 2010, the Commission received a letter from the Ministerial Council on Energy (MCE), requesting that the Commission consider an updated cost benefit study of the Victorian smart meter roll-out prior to finalising its Final Report. This updated cost benefit study was released on 3 September 2010 by the Victorian Government. The Commission is now required to provide its Final Report to the MCE by 29 November 2010.

The MCE will consider the Commission's Final Report at its December 2010 meeting. The Final Report will then be published by the Commission by 24 December 2010.
