The AEMC has released a consultation paper on COAG Energy Council’s proposal to amend the National Electricity Rules (NER) relating to the arrangements for transmission planning and connections.

The rule change request is largely based on the connection and planning recommendations made by the AEMC in its Transmission Frameworks Review, which was completed in 2013. The objective of the recommendations made by the AEMC was to improve transparency,  contestability and clarity in the connections frameworks, as well as to enhance the transmission planning and decision making frameworks.

The Commission invites written submissions on this rule change request. Submissions are to be lodged by 28 January 2016. Stakeholders’ submissions will inform subsequent timeline and processes for this rule change request.
