The AEMC has today published the National Electricity Amendment (Application of Dual Marginal Loss Factors) Rule 2011 No. 6.  This Rule allows AEMO to apply two volume weighted MLFs at connection points where one MLF would not reflect the average of marginal losses for energy generation and consumption at that connection point.

Formal notice of the making of the Rule under sections 102 and 103 of the NEL will be published on 30 June 2011 and the Final Rule will also commence on 30 June 2011. The Commission understands that AEMO will be seeking to implement the Final Rule as of 1 July 2011.

Accordingly, the Commission has published the Final Rule and Final Determination ahead of the formal commencement dates in order to ensure that stakeholders are given notice of the Final Rule before it commences.
