The AEMC today made its final Rule determination of the Rule change proposal submitted by Hydro Tasmania. The AEMC determined to not make the proposed Rule.
Hydro Tasmania's Rule change proposal sought a Participant Derogation to change the methodology for recovering the costs of purchasing local contingency raise market ancillary services in Tasmania. The AEMC's final Rule determination, made under section 102 of the National Electricity Law, provides the AEMC's reasons for determining not to make the proposed Participant Derogation. In summary, the AEMC is not satisfied the Rule change proposal will or is likely to contribute to the achievement of the National Electricity Objective.
The final Rule determination confirms the AEMC's draft Rule determination, published on 30 July 2009.
