Overview
On 29 October 2009, the Reliability Panel (Panel) submitted its interim amendments to the RERT guidelines to the AEMC for publication. The interim amendments to the RERT guidelines were developed as part of the Panel’s Review of the Operational Arrangements for the Reliability Standards and supersede the RERT guidelines that were published in conjunction with this project on 24 November 2008. The amended RERT guidelines can be found on the Panel’s Guidelines and Standards page.

Following the making of the National Electricity Amendment (NEM Reliability Settings: Information, Safety Net and Directions) Rule 2008 No. 6, clause 8.8.1(a)(4) of the National Electricity Rules (Rules) requires the Panel to develop guidelines for National Electricity Market Management Company’s (NEMMCO’s) exercise of its power to enter into contracts for the provision of reserves.
In accordance with clause 3.20.8 of the Rules, the Panel is required to publish its first Reliability and Emergency Reserve Trader (RERT) Guidelines by 30 November 2008. On 15 August 2008, the Panel published the draft RERT Guidelines (in Appendix A of the draft report below) for stakeholder consultation in accordance with clause 8.8.3 of the Rules. Submissions closed on 3 October 2008.
The Panel also held a meeting open to all Registered Participants on its draft RERT Guidelines. This meeting was held at the office of the AEMC on 17 October 2008.
On 24 November 2008, the Panel submitted its final RERT Guidelines (in Appendix A of the final report below) to the AEMC for publication.
