The Varanus Island to DBNGP Onshore Section Pipeline (PL 17) is a transmission pipeline located in the Northern Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia.

The Varanus Island to DBNGP Onshore Section Pipeline is owned by Santos WA Northwest Pty Ltd and operated by Santos WA Energy Ltd.

The Varanus Island to DBNGP Onshore Section Pipeline is 30 km in length, 324 mm in diameter, and has a maximum capacity of 110 TJ/day. 

The Varanus Island to DBNGP Onshore Section Pipeline transports natural gas from an insulating flange at the low water mark at Varanus Island to a point at or about the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline’s Compressor Station No 1, which is located 170 km south of Karratha.

The Varanus Island to DBNGP Onshore Section Pipeline is currently a non-scheme pipeline, and is subject to the access regime for non-scheme pipelines under Chapter 6A of the National Gas Access (WA) Law and Part 23 of the National Gas Rules (WA) (NGR (WA)).

The WA Economic Regulation Authority granted Category 1 and 2 exemptions under Part 23 of the NGR (WA) for the Pipeline that apply from 17 June 2022 to 17 June 2027.
