The Paraburdoo Gas Lateral is a pipeline owned by Hamersley iron Pty Ltd and managed by Pilbara Iron (a wholly owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto Group (RTIO)).
RTIO has commissioned APA Group to operate Paraburdoo Gas Lateral on its behalf. Construction of the PGL mainline was completed in 2005 and takes gas from the Goldfield Gas Pipeline to the Paraburdoo Power Station located at the Paraburdoo mine site. The lateral is an 8 inch (219.1mm) diameter pipeline that is 18km long. Its operating pressure is 10.2Mpa MOAP. The Paraburdoo Lateral is a non-scheme pipeline and is subject to the access regime for non-scheme pipelines under Chapter 6A of the NGL and Part 23 of the NGR. On 16 November 2018, the ERA granted a five-year Category 1 and Category 2 exemption under Part 23 of the NGR for the Paraburdoo gas Pipeline.
