WA: Mt Keith Lateral

The Mt Keith Lateral (also known as the GGP to Mt Keith Power Station Lateral) is a lateral transmission pipeline located in mid-west Western Australia. The lateral is owned and operated by the APA Group.

The Mt Keith Lateral is 8 km in length. It transports gas from the Goldfields Gas Pipeline (GGP) to Mt Keith, where the gas is used for power generation.

The Mt Keith Lateral is currently a non-scheme pipeline, and is subject to the access regime for non-scheme pipelines under Chapter 6A of the NGL and Part 23 of the NGR.

The Mt Keith Lateral was initially a covered pipeline under the Gas Code. However in July 1999, the relevant minister decided to revoke coverage of the Mt Keith Lateral and the associated Leinster Lateral after an application was made to the NCC. The NCC subsequently made a recommendation that coverage should be revoked.

The GGP and the Mt Keith Lateral were some of several pipeline assets across Australia which were partly owned by AGL and were transferred to the APA Group in 2000 as part of the APA Group’s initial public offering and listing.
