WA: GGP to Kalgoorlie Power Station Lateral

WA: GGP to Kalgoorlie Power Station Lateral

The GGP to Kalgoorlie Power Station Lateral (GGPKPS) is a lateral pipeline located in south-east Western Australia. It is owned and operated by the APA Group.

The GGPKPS Lateral is 8 km in length and transports gas from the Goldfields Gas Pipeline (GGP) to Kalgoorlie, where the gas is used for power generation. The GGPKPS Lateral also supplies gas to the ATCO Gas Australia-operated Kalgoorlie gas distribution system.

The GGPKPS Lateral is currently a non-scheme distribution system, and is subject to the access regime for non-scheme pipelines under Chapter 6A of the NGL and Part 23 of the NGR.

The GGPKPS lateral was initially a covered pipeline under the Gas Code. However, in July 1999 the relevant minister decided to revoke coverage of the GGPKPSP after an application was made to the NCC and the NCC subsequently made a recommendation that coverage should be revoked.

Together with the Goldfields Gas Pipeline (GGP), the GGPKPS lateral was constructed in 1996. The GGP and the GGPKPS lateral were one of several pipeline assets across Australia which were partly owned by AGL and were transferred to the APA Group in 2000 as part of the APA Group’s initial public offering.
