The AEMC is currently considering three rule change requests seeking to increase the level of wholesale demand response in the national electricity market. 

The rule change requests propose alternative mechanisms for facilitating wholesale demand response. The Commission published a consultation paper covering all three rule change requests on 15 November 2018. Stakeholder submissions on the consultation paper raised a number of complex issues in relation to the different proposals. 

Workshop

The AEMC is holding a workshop to work gain insights from stakeholders on wholesale demand response. The workshop will focus on the issues raised in the rule change requests and stakeholder submissions on the consultation paper. Further stakeholder consultation on these issues will provide valuable input to the Commission’s assessment of the rule change requests.
